Overview
TT Arena is a table tennis tournament management platform. The TT Arena – Referee Android app is a companion tool that allows designated match officials to enter live match scores during tournaments run on the TT Arena platform.
Referees do not create their own accounts. They are enrolled by the tournament organizer, who issues a unique access code. The Referee app verifies identity via phone OTP and restricts access to only the matches and groups the organizer has assigned.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information is collected when you use the TT Arena – Referee app, why it is collected, how it is used, and what rights you have over your data.
Who We Are
TT Arena is operated as an independent platform. Our platform is accessible at tt-arena.web.app (the organizer web app) and ttarena.app (our marketing website). The TT Arena – Referee app is available on the Google Play Store.

Data We Collect
The Referee app collects a minimal set of data, scoped specifically to your role as a match official.
Referee Identity (provided by the organizer)
- Full name — entered by the tournament organizer when creating your referee account
- Mobile phone number — used for OTP-based login verification (India only, via Firebase)
- Access code — a per-tournament code issued by the organizer to authorize your login
- Tournament and match assignments — the specific groups and matches you are permitted to score
Activity During the Tournament
- Match scores entered by you (game scores per set, final result)
- Timestamps of score submissions and session activity
- Last active time (used by the organizer to monitor referee responsiveness)
- Referee status — whether your access is pending, active, or revoked
Device & Session Data
- Session token stored locally on your device (to restore login on app restart)
- Device type and browser/app version (for technical support)
- No location data is collected or requested
We do not collect passwords, email addresses, payment information, profile photos, or any data beyond what is listed above.
How We Use Your Data
We use the data collected through the Referee app solely to operate the referee score-entry system:
- To verify your identity via OTP and confirm your access code before granting login
- To display the matches and groups you have been assigned to score
- To record the match scores you submit and update live tournament results in real time
- To allow the tournament organizer to monitor referee activity and revoke access if needed
- To restore your session automatically when you reopen the app during an active tournament
- To ensure scores can only be entered for your assigned matches, preventing unauthorized edits
We do not use your data for advertising. TT Arena is ad-free. We do not profile referees or use referee data for any commercial purpose.
Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Tournament organizer — The organizer who enrolled you can see your name, phone number, assignment details, activity status, and last-seen timestamp. This is necessary for them to manage officials during the event.
- Firebase / Google — Our authentication and database infrastructure. Firebase processes phone numbers for OTP delivery and stores session data in Firestore. Google's privacy policy applies to this service.
- Other platform users (indirectly) — Match scores you enter are reflected in real-time public tournament pages (draw results, standings). Your name is not attributed publicly to individual score entries.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.
Data Storage & Security
All referee data is stored on Google Firebase (Firestore), with servers located in the United States. Firebase is a Google Cloud product that meets industry-standard security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Firebase Authentication handles OTP verification — we do not store raw OTPs or phone verification codes
- Referee documents in Firestore are keyed by a randomly generated referee ID and protected by Firestore security rules
- Access codes are stored alongside their hash; app-side validation uses the hashed form
- Session data is stored locally on your device (via localStorage) and can be cleared by logging out or clearing app data
- Referee records automatically expire after the tournament end date (plus a 48-hour grace period)
While we take reasonable precautions, no system is entirely secure. Please use a phone number you control and log out of the app after the tournament.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you as a referee
- Correction: Ask the tournament organizer or contact us to correct your name or phone number if entered incorrectly
- Deletion: Request deletion of your referee record and associated data — contact us or ask the organizer to remove your access
- Withdrawal: You may stop using the app at any time; your session will expire at tournament end regardless

Note: Referee accounts are created and managed by tournament organizers. If you wish to be removed from a specific tournament's referee list, you can contact the organizer directly or reach out to us.

Children's Privacy
The TT Arena – Referee app is intended for use by adult match officials enrolled by tournament organizers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18 in the context of the Referee app.
If you believe a minor's data has been collected without appropriate consent, please contact us at ttarena.app@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform evolves. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of the TT Arena – Referee app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
